TABLE/WORK

TABLE/READ is built on the belief that exceptional storytelling is a unifying force in our world. The plays we select to feature are often constructed with complex language, interesting structure, and a focus on deeply human emotion.

In order for actors to successfully grapple with this kind of work -- and really, any work they take on -- consistent and rigorous skill building and honing is crucial.

TABLE/WORK is our answer to the lack of this kind of career-spanning training in the Twin Cities. We aim to build a community of like-minded theater artists who want to push themselves in their capacity for exceptional storytelling through acting, text, and technique courses.

Lead by TABLE/WORK artistic director Grant Sorenson and a cohort of teaching artists, TABLE/WORK will fill a void in professional-level training for actors, performers, and makers.

TABLE/WORK offerings for May are below! Please reach out to contact@tablereadmpls.com with any questions.

Exploding the Text

Monday, May 4 + 11
6-10 p.m.

A two-session intensive for actors working with classical or heightened text. This workshop strips away reverence and replaces it with urgency, risk, and power, treating language as a public act and the actor as its detonator. Over the course of two four-hour sessions, actors will engage with classical text in visceral and immediate exploration, focusing on developing one complete monologue.

Limited to 10 actors; some subsidized tuitions available to artists historically underrepresented in classical theatre.

Résumé Workshop

Saturday, May 2
2-5 p.m.

Your résumé is your greatest asset as an actor; it's your calling card and often the first impression you make on a director, casting team, or producer. This hands-on workshop is designed to help actors craft résumés that meet professional industry standards while authentically reflecting their artistic identity. Actors will leave with clearer tools for presenting their experience on the page and a résumé that better supports the next step in their career.

Limited to 20 actors; tuition options are pay what you can.
