Contorting Shakespeare's greatest tragedy into something irreverent, flamboyant, and drop-dead hilarious, Fat Ham transposes the melachonly Dane to a backyard barbecue in the American South. Juicy is mourning, his mother just married his uncle, and now the ghost of his father is telling him to seek revenge. Exploring a kaleidoscope of sexuality, gender, family, and grief with a side helping of karaoke and potato salad, the Pulitzeer Prize-winning Fat Ham is a hysterical reimagining of Hamlet unlike any other.
Fat Ham premiered virtually in a production by the Wilma Theater in 2020; it premiered Off-Broadway at The Public Theater in 2022.
