About TABLE/READ

EXPLODING THE TEXT

led by TABLE/READ director Grant Sorenson

Monday, February 9 and 16 from 6-10pm

A two-session intensive for actors working with classical or heightened text. This workshop strips away reverence and replaces it with urgency, risk, and power, treating language as a public act and the actor as its detonator. Over the course of two four-hour sessions, actors will engage with classical text in visceral and immediate exploration, focusing on developing one complete monologue.

Limited to 10 actors; some subsidized tuitions available to artists historically underrepresented in classical theatre.

Grant Sorenson is an innovative and dynamic theatermaker whose "breathtaking…real and visceral" work spans the classical canon, contemporary drama, music theater, and opera. His work has been seen at the Guthrie, Theater Latte Da, Gremlin Theatre, Open Eye Theatre, Boston University Opera Institute, Boston Early Music Festival, Boston Center for the Arts, and others. He received his MFA in Directing from Boston University where he focused on direction of classical theatre and opera. He is the curator and director of TABLE/READ.
